Your Next Golf Destination? How About Almaty!
Almaty has recently become one of the great destination to play golf. Golfing is one of many developing sports activities in Kazakhstan. For the new type of outdoor activity it is doing well and growing quite fast.
Golfing history on the whole post-Soviet area is quite recent. The first Golf Course "InterLux" in Kazakhstan opened only in 1996 in Almaty, then the capital of Kazakhstan. At the time there was only a 9-hole course.
Since it became very popular among professional golfers as well as young Kazakhstanis, it required a bit of expansion. Now it's been turned into the 18-hole course and it is called the Nurtau Golf Club. The Club is situated right beside the Alatau Sanatorium, as you can see on the map below.

Various tournaments among children, juniors and amateurs are held in
Nurtau throughout April to November. The most important one, the
President of Kazakhstan Golf Cup is held in October.

Zhailjau Golf Resort hosts annual European Challenge
Tour Kazakhstan Open. It became a tradition by the Kazakhstan National Golf Federation to hold this championship second half of September, after the successful inaugural tournament in 2005 in Nurtau Golf Course.
Since it's late to participate in this year's Kazakhstan
Open, how about hurrying up to make your arrangements for the next year. ;)
